Big Magic, by Elizabeth Gilbert
I've got to tell you, this book was exactly what I needed. I'm a creative person that struggles with self doubt, always. And, I've also been in somewhat of a creative rut- this book gave me just the right amount of "kick in the pants".
Elizabeth Gilbert has been a favourite author of mine for quite some time. Reading through her works is more like sitting down with an old friend. I occasionally find myself talking back as I read her thoughts.
This book addresses the creative process and highlights the exact moment that big magic takes place. Let me tell you- big magic is real. Very real, I've experienced it, you've experienced it. Elizabeth Gilbert has experienced it (of course) and the way she writes about it just brilliant.
The book is broken into 6 parts: courage, enchantment, permission, persistence, trust and divinity. I kept a note book beside me as I read and I have filled pages with the inspiration I gained. There were several "ah ha" moments.
This book was an empowering read for me, enlightening and I would say it took me on somewhat of a spiritual journey. Everything about this book spoke to me in volumes.
Be prepared to be inspired, and be prepared to do something about it.
Happy reading, friends!
For each Hey Kelly Anne Book I'll be recapping the months previous book and announcing a new book for the following month in the same post. Next months book is: "The Versions of Us" by Laura Barnett.
I'd love for people to join me in the wonderful world of literature. Leave me a comment below with any suggestions or what you've been reading. Let's talk about books!
