Book Club 2014: Roll Call

As mentioned in my previous post, I am dedicating myself to the written word this year. Pledging my allegiance to books, you know the kind, the ones that you can hold in your hands, turn the pages and take in that "real book smell". Since I am going to be reading, I thought I might briefly "review" my reads for you here. I love to read. My Dad gave me the best advice one day when I was sitting in his study. He said "never stop reading and don't be boring". Here, here is all I have to say to that.

I just finished reading "My Story" written by Elizabeth Smart with Chris Stewart. As the front of the book states this is a story about a kidnapping, Elizabeth's survival and the strength and faith that she found to overcome it.

This book was intriguing right from the beginning. I was absolutely aghast reading some of the things this young woman had to endure as a 14 year old girl that was snatched from her very ordinary and very lovely life. It has been 10 years since her abduction- this book is her account of the events that took place.

What inspired me, was her ability to rise above it all. The answers to prayer that she received while in captivity. The life that she has now chosen to live and the good person that she is in spite of what she endured. I found the book to be inspirational to say the very least.

Who else is reading? What are you reading?

Reading... It's a good train, get on it.
